Haz más divertida tu Primavera con este cake Mariposa / Enjoy the Spring with this easy to make cake

¡Felices Pascuas! Butterfly Cake - La cocina de Vero If you’re looking for a fun cake for your spring’s celebrations, this butterfly cake is the one. It is easy to decorate and you can buy everything already done and simply cut, assemble and decorate. You can also make everything from scratch at home or, as I did, buy some parts at the supermarket and prepare some of them in your kitchen. The butterfly wings are made of a box of two Duncan Hines cake mixes, one yellow cake and one pink. I baked them according to package directions and once cooled, I cut a small notch from the center and I joined them by placing between them 4 spoons of a peach marmalade I bought at the market. The frosting is one of those that are ready to use, and the decoration are marshmallows. You can bake a large cake in one of those molds that have a hole in the middle or buy a cake that already come with the center hole and cut it in half horizontally, place the jam in the middle, and then cut crosswise, cover both sides with frosting and decorate . The body of the butterfly is an Entenmann’s loaf from which I cut the corners. I covered it with homemade frosting made with 115 g of sugar, 115 g of softened butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 5 drops of green food coloring. I got a little bit more than need it, but as long as you put the same amount of sugar and butter, it will come out perfect. It is very easy to prepare, sift the sugar into a large bowl (if you have KitchenAid you can do it on its bowl), add the butter, mix it around with a palette, and then beat 5 minutes at the maximum speed of your mixer, until very creamy, like ice cream. Add vanilla and food coloring and beat again for 1 minute. The ornaments are: colored sugar for the stripes, and licorice for the eyes and antennae. With this recipe I finally used my KitchenAid. The idea of the butterfly came from the book Baking (Better Homes, 2013) which was given to me at a book fair a couple of months ago and it is a bible for anyone who wants to enter the world of baking. It has an introduction with all the basis to learn how to prepare all kinds of sweets and breads, including the types of flours, sweeteners, how to use eggs, fats, dairy, chocolate , and the different kinds of yeasts, as well as mixing methods, the essential bakeware and baking tools, and the best ways to preserve the dishes once ready. After that, you will enjoy more than 500 pages of almost all kinds of recipes: cookies of chocolate chips and ginger, biscoti and macarons, brownies; bars of chocolate, lemon, seeds, oats and fruit; basic and sophisticated cakes and cupcakes; lots of fun decorations for your cakes; puddings, cobblers, sweet and savory breads, muffins, scones, pies and whatever you may have in mind. Undoubtedly I was missing a book like this at home. I admit that I have much to learn in this field, and now that I bought my mixer it will be easier to try to learn how bake and decorate. Better times still to come, but for now I hope you and your children like this butterfly and enjoy having a cake like this in one of your parties. Happy Easter!

CUTISIMO!! Bueno, Bonito y Barato, eh Vero??!! ; ) BB2u
